Situated just over 10 miles east of Mobile lies the city of Daphne. With a population of nearly 22,000, Daphne has the greatest number of residents for any city in Baldwin County. The suburb of Mobile is often referred to as “The Jubilee City” as it is host to the Mobile Bay jubilee.
Daphne had weathered through a few severe hurricanes in the late 90’s and early 2000’s but rebuilt and has continued to grow after the most recent recession. Today the economy is primarily fueled by education, healthcare and social assistance employers. In addition, Airbus is building a plant in Mobile which is slated to bring 1,000 jobs to the area by 2018.
